General Studies

Work through a 360-hour general studies session before proceeding with airframe and powerplant programs. A&P Mechanic Institute is an aircraft mechanic school that understands students come from all backgrounds with varying levels of experience. The general studies aspect of our A&P certification training runs about three months for daytime classes and four and a half months for evening meetings.

This part of the curriculum focuses on developing the knowledge and practical skills necessary for successful aircraft maintenance. The 13 courses under general studies cover topics such as mathematics, physics, drawing, electricity and electronics, aircraft hardware, cleaning, fluid lines, inspections, maintenance, weight and balance and human factors that affect aircraft performance.

Airframe Studies

Students move through a 720-hour portion of our program dedicated to airframe systems and maintenance. Our instructors review topics like metallic and non-metallic structures, flight controls, rotorcraft fundamentals, navigation systems, water and waste systems, airframe inspections, aircraft electrical systems, instrument systems, fuel storage, ice and rain control, fire protection, environmental systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and landing gear.

The goal of our airframe studies curriculum is to provide students with a foundation in FAA Part 147 training. Students enjoy standardized instruction and work through a series of assessments throughout the program to demonstrate their ability to repair complex aircraft systems, meeting airframe inspection standards.
